Five weeks and counting.
I’m in my kitchen, trying to fit an unseemly amount of Arrowroot Powder into a Mason jar and not sure if it’s going to work. I have a third of the bag left, so I begin the process of shaking and tapping the jar on the counter to get the powder to settle so I can fit the rest in. Then it dawns on me. This is just like my life. Lots of content, trying to be fit into too small of a space. But somehow I manage. Sure life gets messy, just as the counter and my hands bear the white tracings of powder that have escaped, but somehow I manage to fit it all in.
I haven’t forgotten about this blog. I’m just in the process of settling–fitting all of life’s contents into the limited amount of time I have.
One thing that has been nagging at the back of my mind is the name of this blog. Silly thing to worry about, right? Especially given other pressing matters such as dentists appointments, child sicknesses, my own exercising and eating, paper deadlines and looming midterms. This blog started out with large aspirations. Well … large to me. A documenting of my life for others to see, and more importantly for me to look back on and remember. But it too has settled. The content it all here, its just waiting to be written down. I will get to it, I promise myself.
New blog name and I think it really fits. Some Settling May Occur.
Timer just went off for dinner. Until another time …
Well I’m pretty excited. I’ve had a lot of really good feedback, through Facebook and real life encounters, about all of my crocheted items. Many people have asked if I have set up an Etsy store or plan to sell the hats. I haven’t set up an Etsy store. To be honest, I’m pretty intimidated by the all of the other crafters out there! I just don’t feel like I can compete (yet).
I am however, considering setting up a separate Facebook page to sell some items. But all this has to wait until finals are over. And probably Christmas too. I like the idea of this because I think it would be more local business and word of mouth, which is the kind of business that I think I can handle at this point in my life. I don’t want to get in over my head with trying to raise kids, maintain my
messy house, and go to school. Continue reading

Gauge – 4″ = 8 ½ DC, 5 ½ rows
Hook Size – US K 10.5 / 6.50 MM
Yarn – Lion Brand Yarn Hometown USA – Super Bulky (6) 5 oz.
This pattern should use exactly 1 skein of the Lion Brand Super Bulky yarn, which makes for a quick and easy project! The brown one I crocheted in about 45 minutes from start to finish and wearing. I have not tried it yet with other types of yarn. If you are going to use a worsted weight yarn, I recommend doubling up. Continue reading
When I originally started this blog it’s purpose was to be a place for Alex and I to talk about things that were running through our heads to each other. Some of our best conversations happen on road trips. The kids are pinned down, we have zero distractions in front of us and are finally able to just talk. So we thought we would try to replicate that on the web.
It didn’t happen. That’s ok. We all know what it’s like to start with a seemingly great idea and for it to never get up off the ground.
I decided to blog about a year after this was created. I’ve been enjoying it so much! No, I’m not an avid blogger, posting every day, every other day or even every week. But it’s been fun to get on here and share a little bit of my life now and then.
So all that being said, I have felt like for awhile now that I need a new name and probably domain name. I’ve tweaked the name a little for now because I felt like “Conversations between you and me” was just too bulky and meh. Things will probably change again. Once I nail my title down, I plan on changing the domain name as well.
For now, this is how it will be. I’m so terrible at coming up at names and titles for things! I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me.
Some days I feel like a super mom. Other days I feel like a really terrible mom. Today I feel like a meh kind of mom. Or maybe blah. Though blah doesn’t quite fit, because to me blah means things just sort of blend together into a big bland mess of nothingness. But I definitely did some things today. The kids were fed at least three times today and I distinctly remember being the instigator for two of those times. Continue reading
It’s been awhile since I’ve scraped up enough time to blog. School seems to be getting the best of me. And if it isn’t school, it’s crocheting costumes, baby shower gifts or Christmas presents for friends and family! Three weeks left of this semester and then I’ll get a break.
This post isn’t going to be too wordy. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. This is the first time I have ever made costumes for the kids. They loved it. I felt like my fingers were going to fall off from crocheting so much. I was sewing up until 3o minutes before I had to be at Mason’s school for his Halloween parade! I think I used a combination of 6 different free patterns that I was able to find online to create these hats and mittens. Oy!
